The name Winknet was coined to reflect the speed (as fast as wink) of the internet service offered by Shyam Networks. The target audience was the middle and upper middle class youth (18-32) familiar with the internet. Hence, the brief was to keep the logo young, vibrant, playful and fun.
At the agency, we had an idea - why not visually show the "wink". It would be fun and youthful. It is relateable too for "wink" is something everyone's practicing all the time. That's how this logo was born. The missing stick of the "i" symbolizes a closed eye. The colours and fonts have been meticulously chosen to keep it young. Not surprisingly, it was picked up by the client immediately.
